Ebola: Lagos State Teachers Vow Not To Resume Today




For fear of more outbreak of the dreaded Ebola virus, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Lagos State Chapter has vowed that its members will not resume for the 2014/2015 academic session tomorrow, Monday, September 22, warning the Lagos State Government against coercing its members to resume.

The warning came as the union alleged that the state government had not provided any Ebola Virus Disease kit in schools in the state.

The state NUT Chairman, Mr. Segun Raheem, insisted that members of the union would not resume until the EVD facilities were in place in schools, noted that the state government had resorted to intimidation to force them to resume.

EBOLA: 2nd Female Nigerian Doctor Infected by Sawyer Survives; Tells her Story of Survival




Dr. Ada Igonoh of First Consultants Hospital is one of the doctors who attended to Patrick Sawyer.

She eventually got infected with the virus but miraculously survived. Dr. Ada Igonoh shared her very moving, gripping story with BellaNaija and it is a must read, guys. Story is a long one, but yeah..you have to read this!

On the night of Sunday July 20, 2014, Patrick Sawyer was wheeled into the Emergency Room at First Consultants Medical Centre, Obalende, Lagos, with complaints of fever and body weakness. The male doctor on call admitted him as a case of malaria and took a full history. Knowing that Mr. Sawyer had recently arrived from Liberia, the doctor asked if he had been in contact with an Ebola patient in the last couple of weeks, and Mr. Sawyer denied any such contact.

Ebola: South African woman arrested at Lagos Airport [See Photos]






A female South African national is being held by Nigerian health authorities after showing potential symptoms of the Ebola virus disease.

The South African woman, whose identity was not revealed had reportedly been working in Guinea and Sierra Leone.

She is being treated as a suspected case and has been taken to Lagos’ Ebola treatment centre for tests to ascertain whether she has the virus.

Chris Oyakhilome sets new rules for married couples in Christ Embassy




New reports claim Chris Oyakhilome has sacked one of his top pastors, Reverend Grace for allegedly setting up a prayer session concerning the messy divorce.



She was allegedly sacked by Pastor Chris for raising a prayer team to pray for the restoration of peace in the church’s first family when Rev Anita, who headed the London church, stopped attending services.

One of the ministers, who spoke to SUN said “We suspected this issue is going to go public some day since the day Pastor Chris sacked Rev Grace for meddling in his family affairs by openly calling for prayers among some members in London when Rev Anita stopped coming to the church she was shepherding while all efforts to get her failed.

Chris Oyakhilome denies adultery accusations, threatens to sue journalists


Rev. Chris Oyakhilome, who is currently in divorce court with his estranged wife Anita Oyakhilome has denied adultery accusations and has threatened to sue journalists who publish stories about himself and his wife. In a statement released via his lawyer Mr. Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) a few hours ago, Pastor Oyakhilome said the accusations of adultery against him is 'false and malicious'.

"The attention of our client, Rev. Chris Oyakhilome, and the church has been drawn to the wave of false, malicious and fabricated stories being published in the print and electronic media about his person, the church and a matrimonial cause between him and his wife," his attorney stated. Sharply criticizing the recent coverage of the divorce proceedings, which the statement did not refute, the release claimed that publishers went so far as to fabricate claims that he had committed adultery against his wife, Anita. These contradict her claims that the leader of Christ Embassy Church had indeed been unfaithful during their "terribly degenerated" marriage, something she disclosed through counsel to Premium Times earlier Wednesday.

Panic At Luth As Patient Exhibiting Symptoms Of Ebola Dies

The death of a patient, who is suspected to have Ebola, has caused panic among patients and doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi- Araba, Lagos State.

A reliable source, who confirmed this development to our correspondent in Lagos on Tuesday, said the patient was brought in by members of the health authorities at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, to the hospital on Monday.

Dogs eating corpses of Ebola victims in Liberia - residents claim



Residents of Johnsonville Township, outside Monrovia in Liberia are claiming that dogs are digging up the corpses of Ebola victims buried in shallow graves in Liberia and eating them in the streets.

Nigeria successfully contains Ebola, has only one case left - Health Minister



Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu said today that Nigeria has been able to reduce the number of Ebola cases to just one.


At a press briefing held today August 26th in Abuja, Prof. Onyebuchi said only one patient out of the 13 confirmed cases in Nigeria is still at the Isolation center. He said five of those infected died while seven have successfully recovered and have been discharged. He also said two of the nurses who attended to Patrick Sawyer at the First Consultant hospital were discharged yesterday.

Nigerian Doctors Suspend Strike




Nigerian Doctors have suspended their nationwide strike which they kicked off on the 1st of July 2014.

Although details of the strike is still very sketchy, they made the announcement via their official twitter page this morning and a press statement is expected to follow later today, Sunday 4, August, 2014.

NTA news also announced the suspension of the strike this morning.
