Gunmen open fire inside parliament building in Ottawa, Canada


Multiple gunmen stormed the Canadian Parliament complex and the National War Memorial in Ottawa around 10am this morning Wednesday October 22nd and started shooting at people. One soldier was killed (at the Canadian war memorial). According to eye witnesses, a gunman came down from a car, walked up to the soldier and shot him dead. One of the shooters was later killed by police.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper had to be evacuated from the government building, which is currently on lock down. Schools and the US embassy are also on lock down in Ottawa. No one/group has claimed responsibility for what's going on there right now. Read the full story from CNN after the cut...

POLITICS: President Jonathan reshuffles cabinet


Following the resignation of seven ministers last week, President Jonathan has reshuffled his cabinet, appointing temporary ministers to take up the positions of those that resigned.

Announcing this today October 22nd after the Federal Executive Council, the  Minister of State II for Foreign Affairs, Nurudeen Mohammed who now supervises the  Ministry of Information, said the Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Aliyu Gusau will now double as the Minister of State for Defence while the Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki (SAN) will act as the Supervising Minister of Labour and Productivity. Woman found guilty of people trafficking after forcing two Nigerian women into prostitution by making them eat snakes


24 year old Lizzy Idahosa (pictured left) and her husband Jackson Omoruyi, 41 (pictured right), have been found guilty of trafficking in people after they forced two Nigerian women into prostitution by making them eat snakes in a black magic ceremony, UK Daily Mail reports.

Lizzy and Jackson, according to reports, made more than £70,000 out of the women, who were made see a witchdoctor for a sinister 'juju' ceremony.

Another Texas health care worker tests positive to Ebola



Oh no! Sad for this hospital. A second health care worker at the Texas Presbyterian Hospital has tested positive to Ebola, a few days after a nurse, Nina Pham, tested positive. The new case is also one of those who attended to late Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian who took Ebola to America.

Confirming the 2nd diagnoses, the US Center for Disease Control and prevention said in a statement

 Seven serving ministers in President Jonathan’s cabinet today October 15th resigned their positions.

Those who resigned are: the Ministers of Information, Labaran Maku; Minister of Trade and Industry, Samuel Ortom; Minsiter of Health Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu, Minister of State for Defence Dairus Ishaku, Minsiter of Labor, Emeka Wogu, Minister of State for Defence, Mr Musiliu Obanikoro and Minister of State for Education, Mr Nyesom Wike.

Nigerian troops engaged in fierce battle with Boko Haram in Michika


 

According to a breaking news report, Nigerian troops are currently engaged in a fierce gun battle with Boko Haram men at Michika town in Adamawa state. Hopefully our troops will crush them as they've been doing in recent ttimes

Chibok girls may never return - former president Obasanjo says




Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that some of the missing Chibok girls may never return and we'll continue to read about them in years to come. He said this on the 5th of Oct while speaking at the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation 
"I believe that some of them will never return.  We will still be hearing about them many years from now, some will  give birth to children of the Boko Haram members, but if they cannot take care of them in the forest, they may release them.” he said.

Lagos House of Assembly members ask Fashola to rename IDH after Adadevoh



Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly moved a motion yesterday September 24th asking the state Governor, Babatunde Fashola to rename the Infectious Disease Hospital, IDH, where Ebola disease patients were recently treated, after Doctor Stella Adadevoh.
The motion for her to be immortalized was moved by Hon Adefunmilayo Tejuoso and seconded by Hon Muyiwa Jimoh. The lawmakers said Dr. Adadevoh's act of stopping Sawyer from leaving the First Consultant hospital after she found out he was infected with the deadly virus, saved many lives

Defence HQ denies Cameroon military's involvement in recent fights against Boko Haram



The Defence Headquarters has denied claims by Cameroonian military of being involved in the fight against Boko Haram in recent times, especially in Konduga Borno state where a major victory against the sect group was recorded. According to the Nigerian Defence, all fights against Boko Haram in Kondura and other border towns were carried out by Nigerian troops.

Photo of young twins who lost their mum in the FCE bomb blast


 These beautiful little angels lost their mum in the Federal College of Education, Kano bomb blast that occurred on Wednesday September 17th. 15 students of the college lost their lives while 34 others were seriously injured.

Around 1.30pm on that fateful day, terrorists climbed the fence of the school, jumped into the school premises and began shooting sporadically. One suicide bomber gained entrance into one of the classrooms

Ibrahim Babangida reportedly hospitalized in Germany



According to Sahara Reporters, former Head of state, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida popularly known as IBB is currently in a hospital in German. He was reportedly rushed to Germany about 10 days ago from his hilltop mansion in Minna, Niger State. SR reports that the former military dictator who is 73 years old is severely ill and that his ailment relates to a chronic back ailment for which he earlier had surgery in Germany.

There are over 7,000 languages in the world and according to a new poll, the Nigerian accent is the 10th sexiest English accent in the world. CNN did a recent poll on Facebook and above is how people voted

Man hangs himself live on Skype while online spectators watched




26 year old Russian man Serger Kirilov (pictured above) wanted to commit suicide and so he went on Skype and announced that he planned to commit suicide and said anyone who wanted to see it could link to him on Skype.

Shockingly, many people linked up to him and watched him hang himself without trying to stop him. One spectator even allegedly said 'a real man would have killed himself more quickly.' Another said 'If a man says he's going to do something, he needs to do it.' Only one person tried to stop him.

Church building collapses in Edo




A one-storey building which served as offices for pastors belonging to Christ Chosen Church of God collapsed in Edo state today. Rescue operation is currently ongoing at the site. Three people are said to have been rescued alive from the collapsed building while two bodies are still trapped under the rubble. More later


Rescue operation at Synagogue building collapse site ends, death toll put at 80


Rescue operation at Synagogue Church of All Nations site ended today September 18th. NEMA officials say they are convinced that there are no more bodies at the site. The death toll has been put at 80. NEMA says the next phase is for proper identification and retrieval of the bodies by families of the victims.
